Solved Need win8 long enough to install win10 - can't find my key

Do you have a "new/unused" W7 license or are you trying to re-use the W7 OEM license from the OLD MB ? If you have an unused W8x license you should be able to use that and have a "clean start" on the new PC, and upgrade it to W10. If you have problem(s) you would get more help by creating a...

Solved Need win8 long enough to install win10 - can't find my key

Do you really need to do an Upgrade Install ? Can a Clean Install work for you ? A Clean Install means you will have to re-install all programs and settings. Now you say the Win 7 license is an OEM license. Technically/legally that license can't be transferred to a different PC (motherboard)...

Solved Need win8 long enough to install win10 - can't find my key

It's my understanding/belief you can install 8.1 and use a 8 product key to activate it. I think you would need to use a generic key when installing 8.1, and then change the product key after the install. See this tutorial: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2299-clean-install-windows-8-a.html...

Help creating multiple backups on same hardrive.

What is GPF formatting, i haven't heard of that before ? I have a Legacy BIOS PC (no UEFI) and a 3TB backup HD. I initialized it as GPT and formatted it as NTFS. I use the HD as a single partition.

Power Availability Requests - Manage in Windows

In addition to what Brink suggests. I've see where it displays requests, but the requestsoverride still work. Temporarily set it to sleep after 1 minute, and see if does go to sleep.
