Hello everyone, this has got me beat, but I know you guys will have answers . . . .

At the moment I dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8.
I have just added Media Centre to 8 (yes I've got my key = 10days) and all went smoothly . . . until the dreaded alert 'TV Tuner not Detected' !!
Of course it works perfectly on the Win7 partition, but is there any way for it to be recognized in the Win8 Partition?
Or is the only way to eventually lose my Windows 7 and rely totally on Windows 8. Presumably the TV Tuner Card would then be detected. TV Tuner card is AVerMedia A336 MiniCard Hybrid DVB-T and driver up to date.

Regards . . . David

I've got a Hauppauge card in my other PC. It seemed fine with the Windows 8 installed driver but I couldn't get the remote to work. Everything looked fine in device manager too. I was just about ready to box it back up and send it back. Even thought the remote showed up in device manager with no flags I installed the latest drivers from the manufacturers web site. I figured I had nothing to loose, and it worked. If you haven't try the manufacturers drivers and see what happens.

Thanks HippsieGypsie and alphanumeric for your input.

Initially the TV Tuner didn't show up on Device Manager, but after a scan, there it was in 'other devices'.
Next problem was 'no driver installed'. After checking the web I wasn't confident, even on the manufactures site, that I had identified the correct one. (it's 3 years old)
I went back to Device Manager and even Windows search the only answer was 'non found'
Next I did 'search computer' and directed it to the Windows 7 partition. after a long, long time . . . . 'Device Driver Found' !!!
Back into Media Centre - live TV . . . .setup commencing, 10 minutes later all channels working.

Thanks you so much for your help guys, I thought without deleting the Windows 7 partition, I'd no chance.

Good for you! And wow! That's interesting to know that one can direct to look in another drive (partition) for a driver. Well done! :thumb:

I learned something today! :)

Hi tsandford . . . . .

As you will see from the thread, I was lucky to be Dual Booting and able to locate the driver details with a 'Device Manager' search in the Win 7 partition.
I tried a Google search for . . . . TV Tuner card AVerMedia A336 MiniCard Hybrid DVB-T Driver, but most are companies trying to sell you 'driver update programs' which are useless. The AVerMedia site was hopeful, but the card/driver being 2 to 3 years old wasn't listed.
For interest I have looked in D\WindowsSystem32\drivers and found a small file (see attachment) I know very little about drivers, apart from what they do, but this looks very insignificant to be everything needed ? ? ?
You need to hope one of the 'experts' is looking at this thread and offers to help with there knowledge !!

Regards, David

Same problem 'TV Tuner not found' in Windows 8 but an unrecognized device in device driver. Tuner card is Avermedia A373. Problem SOLVED by forcing windows 8 to boot without fast start - it then found and recognized the driver and card - all working OK. Issue is now Media Center will not set up the tuners - frustration.
